The Things That Felt Impossible Now Feel Normal
Think back to your first few days in the brace.
There were probably things that felt impossible.
Sleeping in it.
Getting comfortable.
Making it through a school day.
Wearing it for long stretches.
Living your normal life while constantly feeling aware of it.
At the time, those challenges may have felt enormous.
You may have wondered if things would ever get easier.
Then something happened.
You kept going.
Day after day.
Hour after hour.
Week after week.
And without even realizing it, you started adapting.
One of the most surprising parts of the first month is how quickly humans adjust to new situations.
Not because the situation becomes easy.
Because the situation becomes familiar.
What once felt strange becomes expected.
What once felt difficult becomes manageable.
What once felt impossible becomes normal.
Many teens don't give themselves enough credit for this.
They focus on what is still hard.
They focus on what they still wish was different.
Meanwhile, they overlook all the things they've already learned.
You've learned how to get through school.
You've learned how to sleep better.
You've learned how to handle uncomfortable moments.
You've learned how to keep living your life.
Those are real accomplishments.
Sometimes progress is easier to see when you look backward.
Compare yourself to the person you were during your first week.
There is a good chance you've already grown.
You've already adapted.
You've already become stronger.
Not because you wanted a challenge.
Because you rose to one.
The things that once felt impossible may not be your favorite parts of bracing now.
But they no longer control your day.
And that is a huge sign of progress.
