Motivation Matters Less Than You Think

That may sound like a strange title.

After all, this entire section is about motivation.

But one of the most encouraging things you can learn during the first month is that success does not depend on feeling motivated all the time.

In fact, very few people feel motivated every day.

Not athletes.

Not musicians.

Not students.

Not brace wearers.

Motivation is wonderful when it's there.

It helps things feel easier.

It helps you feel excited.

It helps you feel confident.

The problem is that motivation comes and goes.

Some days it's strong.

Some days it's nowhere to be found.

If success depended entirely on motivation, very few people would reach their goals.

The good news is that success depends much more on consistency than motivation.

And consistency is something you are already building.

Every time you put your brace on, you're practicing it.

Every time you follow your routine, you're strengthening it.

Every time you keep going, you're proving you can do difficult things.

That is why many successful brace wearers don't focus on finding motivation every day.

They focus on following their plan.

They trust their routine.

They trust themselves.

And over time, that approach becomes much more powerful than waiting to feel motivated.

This should feel encouraging.

Because it means you do not need to feel inspired all the time.

You do not need to wake up excited every morning.

You simply need to keep showing up.

The first month teaches that lesson better than almost anything else.

And once you learn it, you realize something important.

You are capable of succeeding even on ordinary days.

And there are a lot more ordinary days than perfectly motivated ones.
