Nobody Sees Everything You're Carrying

There are days when scoliosis feels heavier than it looks.

From the outside, everything may seem normal.

You go to school.

You hang out with friends.

You smile.

You answer questions.

You live your life.

Most people have no idea what is happening inside your head.

They don't hear the worries.

They don't hear the fears.

They don't hear the questions you ask yourself when nobody else is around.

That can feel lonely sometimes.

You may wonder why nobody seems to understand.

You may wish someone could see how hard certain days feel.

The truth is that many people with scoliosis carry much more emotionally than others realize.

And that is okay to admit.

You do not have to pretend everything is easy.

You do not have to pretend you're never worried.

You do not have to pretend you're never sad.

Being strong does not mean hiding your emotions.

It means allowing yourself to have them.

One of the most important things you can do is find safe people to talk to.

A parent.

A friend.

A sibling.

A counselor.

Someone who can listen.

Because carrying everything by yourself is exhausting.

You deserve support.

You deserve understanding.

You deserve a place where you can be honest about how you're feeling.

Many teens worry that sharing their feelings will make them a burden.

It won't.

The people who care about you want to know how you're doing.

They want to help.

They want to support you.

You don't have to carry every thought and every worry alone.

The emotional side of scoliosis is real.

And it matters.

Even if nobody else can see it.

Because what you feel inside is just as important as what people see on the outside.
